Last week, a Bergen County sex offender was arrested on new child sexual abuse charges. The registrant, a 41-year-old resident of Teaneck, New Jersey, was originally placed on Megan’s Law in 2009 in Passaic County. He was convicted of possession of child pornography and sexual assault of a child less than 13 years old.
Besides the instant offenses, the Bergen County registrant has not violated his registration or reporting obligations under Megan’s Law. His parents detected the current matter, and reported him to the Teaneck Police Department for suspected illegal sexual behavior.
On March 10, 2015, the Bergen County Prosecutor announced that it is believed that this registered sex offender “engaged in inappropriate sexual activity” with multiple children between the ages of three (3) and five (5). As a result, he has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
