Sex Crimes Attorney
What is Parole Supervision for Life (PSL) / Community Supervision for Life (CSL)?
In 1994 New Jersey adopted “Megan’s Law” for handling issues involving sex offenders. In addition, people convicted of certain sex offenses in NJ may also be sentenced to Parole Supervision for Life (PSL) or Community Supervision for Life (CSL).
Depending on what year you committed your sex offense, you could be on either CSL or PSL. It is important to have a lawyer in your corner who knows the difference and who can make sure you were properly put on CSL or PSL.
Conviction of certain crimes will lead to CSL / PSL requirements upon your release. A mandatory CSL / PSL sentence is required for the following convictions:
- Aggravated sexual assault
- Sexual assault
- Aggravated criminal sexual contact
- Kidnapping
- Certain endangering the welfare of a child convictions
- Luring
CSL / PSL Legal Services:
- Modifications of Special Conditions of PSL / CSL
- Removal from CSL / PSL
- Violations of CSL / PSL
Maynard Law Office, LLC has helped many supervisees terminate their supervision after 15 years —and sometimes earlier. We have also fought for the rights of people accused of violating their CSL / PSL conditions.
Plus, we also petition the NJ Parole Board to change or eliminate conditions that impact our clients, such as Internet access bans. In light of new State and U.S. Supreme Court decisions that struck down certain conditions as unconstitutional, we have fertile grounds to challenge the Parole Board. However, your conditions will not change unless you petition the NJ Parole Board, and we can help you with that.
